Off the rocker (updated November 6, 2006)

The NEMUG Board thought we'd do something a little different for November's meeting. We planned a "Pub Social". We'll be meeting at the Union Street Restaurant 6:00 PM to network and socialize. We will provide a variety of appetizers and non alcahalic beverages. You are free of course to purchase your favorite libation if you chose to indulge. (I'm personally looking forward to tipping a pint with my fellow M/Cache' practitioners.) Representatives from InterSystems development and a recruiter from Henry Elliott will be on hand to informally chat about relevant topics. Of course, the NEMUG board will be well represented too. We've been talking about having a meeting like this since we had the NEMUG focus group discussions back about a year and a half ago. One of the general desires of the group was that NEMUG provide more opportunities to network informally. We didn't want you to think we weren't listening. ;) Here is a link if you need Directions . Its only a 1 minute walk from the Newton Center greenline stop. There is a parking lot in front of the pub and public parking very near by. Here is their website . Cache course is in full swing.

Some time two years ago we noted that an anniversary was coming up.  +$HOROLOG was going to turn 60000.  That's a big deal for those of us whose fathers let us watch odometers flip to the next row of zeros.  It was also a big deal because we knew where many of the pioneers were and could reach them for a reunion.  We started as a group to plan our event.  It would be at the Holiday Inn near MGH where the code was initiated and where the first user group meetings were held.  We would have a panel to hear how it happened from the horses' mouths so to speak.  We would recognize those whose achievements have meant so much to us.  We would create memories that will sustain us until the next big reunion.

Speaking of memories, our Photo Gallery has images of the M Celebration +$H=60000.  We have a CD that is available for purchase.  Soon emails will go out to attendees to offer it to them.  As usual we all worked together but somehow the group made me Chair of that event as well.  However, if it weren't for all the official and unofficial help, the support from everyone, the event would not have been the incredible time it was.  Thank you to all.
